Well the New York Comic-con is coming and I'm thinking about going. I have never been to a comic book convention before and I'm a comic fanatic. You could ask me anything about a Marvel character and I'm pretty sure I'll have an answer. Anyways I just wanted to know what should I expect at a convention. I heard they smell and get kind of hot.

In my past experiences (-anime club- *shakes head*) most geeks never heard of the word deodorant and probably dread soap. I can imagine hundreds of those people in one building. Is it that bad or am I just getting the wrong message. I also heard the price of food at a convention is worst than the movies.
Can someone with any past convention experience tell me how these things really are,
like the positives and your fondest memory of your Con experience?

I'm about to shell out like 65 bucks for a weekend ticket but I don't want to pay for three days and hate day one.

And also , Is anyone going? I would love to meet other Newgrounders.

Okay finally I'm using this blog, I was kinda hesitant before to use this because I already have 2 on other websites and I just thought three would be overkill. Still I'm writing in this one because I need to.
I've been coming to NG since the site was there was really nothing on the site but celebrity killing games and xiao xiao.

Things are changing though, for the better. Newgrounds has become the place for everybody to put everything out there. No longer the problems of tomorrow, today. This opened up a lot for artists and coders but now out of this has grown a very messed creator type I like to call the "The Artist".

What is The Artist you say? Its those snooty animators who prefer "original" ideas and old school frame by frame animation. I'm not saying this is a bad thing, because its not at all, but the negative side of The Artist is putting down other creator's work because it does't fit their criteria of what a good flash cartoon should be. They act as if Newgrounds is a museum of modern art when Newgrounds is really just a world's gallery of artists from all walks of life doing their thing creatively through Flash for people to enjoy watching.

Its okay to give people constructive criticism when you're obviously a skilled artist but when you simply say they suck you're killing some ones creativity and from an artists point of view thats sad.
Its even sadder when The Artist says something sucks out of pure jealousy for the creators work then gets mad at the audience for accepting and liking the work.

I really don't like to get into internet arguments and drama but one of these artists sent me a pm putting down my work just because I support sprite based animation. If people think Alvin Earthworm or Daniel Sun is any less of an animator because they use sprites they are reading wayy too much into it. To put it simply, Animation is entertainment. It shouldn't matter how an animator works, the only thing the audience cares about is the result.
